Like the Honda RC30 of the same era, the Yamaha FZR 750 R OW01 is a must-have for any collection and is destined to appreciate in value.

A street-legal racing motorcycle…

A prestigious showcase of the brand’s expertise, the Yamaha FZR 750 R OW01 is not simply a sporty road bike. It’s a Superbike, a racing motorcycle disguised as a street-legal model. Inspired by racing, hence its OW01 designation like the racing machines of the same name, the FZR “R” is truly nothing like the standard version.

The engine is a Genesis type: 4-cylinder in-line, inclined forward, with 5 valves per cylinder. Its square bore and stroke allowed for larger valves, reduced valve height, and the ability to reach higher engine speeds. Titanium connecting rods, a lightweight crankshaft, and two-ring pistons reduced inertia, resulting in a maximum engine speed of 13,000 rpm. Two air intakes feed a bank of four flat-slide carburetors. Notably, the EXUP system analyzes exhaust gas pressure to determine the position of a valve in the expansion chamber. By releasing more or less gas, the flow is regulated, increasing torque at both high and low engine speeds. This system is particularly effective, as the engine in its standard configuration delivers 120 horsepower.

The Deltabox frame consists of two aluminum spars connected to cast components. The swingarm is attached to an adjustable Öhlins monoshock. In addition to all these cutting-edge components of the time, it features an adjustable fork, 320 mm floating discs with 4-piston calipers, and 17-inch wheels fitted with 120 and 170 tires.
