The Honda RS 125 first appeared on the world stage in 1988, ridden by Ezio Gianola, who brought it to the brink of the title. It won the championship in 1990 with Loris Capirossi, and again in 1991, also with Capirossi.
Finally, it secured its last title in 1993 with Dirk Raudies before being replaced in 1995 by a completely redesigned model, both in terms of chassis and engine.
