In 1969, to support the international launch of its revolutionary CB 750, Honda entrusted its competition department (RSC) with a strategic mission: to develop a racing version based on the CB 750’s four-cylinder engine (750 cc) and enter it in one of Europe’s most prestigious endurance races, the Bol d’Or at Montlhéry.
Result: first race, first victory, by Rougerie/Urdich.
In the winter of 1969, Honda continued its conquest by developing four new, much more radical machines. The goal: to make an impression at the most iconic race on the American calendar, the 1970 Daytona 200.
Four Honda CR 750 motorcycles took the start. Only one would cross the finish line first:
Dick Mann’s.
The legend of the CR 750 Daytona was born.
A rare and faithful replica with unique specifications
Honda only produced about fifteen of these factory CR 750s. Very few have survived.
As early as 1971, a few racing kits were made available to importers.
Passionate collectors then began assembling their own replicas, with varying degrees of success.
The CR 750 Daytona Replica offered here is exceptional in several ways:
• It is equipped with almost all the original parts from the Honda Racing Kit, rigorously selected.
• Above all, it features a frame and swingarm faithful to the exact specifications of the official motorcycles entered at Daytona in 1970, unlike other replicas, which use CB 750 road frames.
This chassis, known as the Low Boy, is lower and lighter, and features entirely different geometry and specific welding. Three faithful copies of this factory frame were recently built in Italy from an original motorcycle found in England—there will be no others.
An exceptional restoration
This motorcycle was assembled with extreme care, using only new or original parts, in accordance with the 1970 model.
Many rare and expensive parts make up this unique set (parts budget exceeding €50,000, complete documentation available).
It raced twice on the track, for approximately two hours.
It has been tested on the dyno: 90 horsepower measured.
Available in France (Paris).
