This Kawasaki ZXR7 is one of only four works bikes engaged by the team “Kawasaki France” during the 1989 World Endurance Championship. Out of four machines only 2 survived: the 0389 and the 0289.
The bike entered in the 24 hours of Le Mans 1989, the Bol d’Or and the 8 h of Suzuka in 1989. Subsequently it also participated in the 24 h of Le Mans in 1990, where it finished at an excellent 5th overall classification.
This bike together with some of its sisters were sold in an auction by the Itoh Group (former French Kawasaki importer) when Kawasaki France was taken over by the factory.
Lateron this bike was sold again through the “Bonhams” auction during the Motorcycle Mechanics Show in Stafford (GB) in October 2006, where the current owner bought this bike in its “Endurance” configuration, fully identical as during its racing career.
The bike is complete and in good mechanic and overall condition, not being used since 1992.
This great race bike is now available in Belgium including an expert report from Kawasaki Motor France established in 2000. |
