After Honda’s revolutionary CB 750, Kawasaki entered the race for power with its Z 900 in 1973.
An immediate success, which was confirmed by its reliability as a daily driver as well as on the circuits.
Compared to the Honda CB 750 the bike had a higher capacity thus more power (82 HP instead of 67) and more couple, but the main sales argument was the DOHC. Keeping the traditional four exhaust pipes, the bike had a fabulous look, in particular in the colour combination Tabac with flame orange and its engine in black mat. For practical reasons the chain was lubricated by an external oil reservoir which was located underneath the saddle at the left side of the frame.
The here presented bike is one of the first models from 1973 (registered new in France in July 1973). It’s complete and in original, never restored condition. It’s in perfect working order now available in the south-west of France. |
