The Honda RC30 was produced as homologation model in order to participate in the 1988 SBK world championship, a true race bike.
Entirely assembled by hand (a single worker was responsible for the assembly of a bike from A to Z) in the Hamamatsu factory, parallel to the HRC racing machines.
Direct successor of the racing RVF that dominated the world endurance championship, the RC30 takes over the aluminium frame as well as several aluminium cast parts (such as swing arm, rear engine mounting, foot rests). The fairing was innovated using a new material, the FRB (Fiber Reinforced Plastic), mounted by hand, all body parts thus were even lighter and more resistant.
The V4 at 90° was also derived from the racing RVF and underlined the racing spirit of the model. The engine was equipped with high technology parts of that period, like chrome molybdenum cam shafts, titanium con-rods (50g lighter than the ones from the serial VFR), a torque limiting clutch,…
With only 185 kg the bike developed 112 HP at 11500 rpm with a couple of 7.38 mkg at 11000 rpm.
The RC30 was produced from 1987 to 1993 with a total production of 4784 examples.
The here presented Honda RC30 only covered 5600 km in 20 years. It’s in exceptional original condition and comes with its accessories (workshop stand, user manual, spare key, tools etc.)
It’s now available in northern Italy with an Italian road registration. |
