K1 (1988 à 1993).
With the introduction of the K1 in 1988, BMW achieved a new milestone in the K-Series.
The K1 disposes of a totally new aerodynamic and design concept and it’s also the first serial bike by BMW equipped with the four valves technology and an innovative combustion chamber.
The increase in the compression ratio reflects in the excellent engine performance: the K1 achieves its maximum performance of 100 HP at 8,000 rpm – more than ever on a BMW.
This model disposes furthermore of the new Bosch Motronic injection, the 17 inch wheels the ABS and a Paralever rear swing arm; this is only to line out some of the improvements and advantages of this model.
Last but not least, the K1 is also the first serial bike worldwide that disposes of a triple catalytic converter controlled by a lambda sensor.
The production of the K1 was continued until the introduction of the special edition “Ultima” in 1993. |
